Use case : for parking

Overview

A manager of large car parks such as those at stations or airports wishes to acquire a high-performance solution to deal with the case of car park customers that come to the checkout having lost their title
parking. The aveditor software solution is the first to respond in a simple, effective and reliable way within the framework of a limited budget which can be amortized quickly.

Optimized management of “lost tickets” is a source of revenue additional because it allows to fully charge customers who claim having lost their ticket to avoid paying for a long parking period. It is also a service that will be appreciated by parking users: On the one hand, the customer who is in good faith and who has really lost his ticket appreciates paying an amount corresponding to the actual duration of his stay. On the other hand a solution based on LPReditor’s “Photopark Assistant” system makes it possible to find the sector in which a vehicle is parked and allows the cashier to rescue the user who no longer knows where he parked his vehicle.
LPReditor’s “Photopark Assistant” system is based on a database of data of the vehicles present in each sector of each car park. This basis of data can be easily queried by cashiers thanks to the management. On the other hand, the database is updated by a mobile system of automatic reading of license plate numbers.
.
The “PhotoPark Assistant” application allows faster reading of vehicles, avoids all manual entry, facilitates the search for vehicles parked (depending on the car park and the sector), and also allows the display of a
vehicle history and the list of all vehicles present in the fleet.

Introduction

The aveditor application allows to take readings on a parking lot using plate reading. When a member of the car park surveillance staff makes a round, he equips himself with a digital image acquisition device and photographs each of the plates of the vehicles in the car park. Back in the car park PC, he downloads his images onto a computer equipped with the LPReditor recognition engine. The engine reads the registered plates and creates a database from these plates.
The services provided by this solution are multiple:
• It simplifies and speeds up the manual reading as it is usually done, because the operator does not spend his time checking whether such and such plate is in a list (that of subscribers, those of suction cup vehicles, etc.)
• It makes this statement more relevant, because in addition to the plate number statement there is an image proof of the presence of the vehicle, which can be useful in disputes
• Reading entry is accelerated because it is automatic

Modus operandi

When a guard leaves for a round, he just needs to take an image capture device. It can be a digital camera, or any other device offering such a possibility. He methodically shoots a video with every vehicle license plate. it. It is not necessary to go all around the car park, the car park is divided into sectors (for example the different levels of a multi-storey car park).
Back at the car park PC, the guard will upload the images saved in the dedicated folders corresponding to the sectors he has inspected on a computer hosting aveditor. Then the operator launches the plate reading on this file and the photo databases are updated. The vehicles for which there are no more images during the last acquisition are released (we keep a trace of their passage), for those who are still there their residence time is updated. We can now establish a new state of the sector, detect suction cup vehicles, confirm the presence of a subscriber vehicle, etc. It is therefore necessary to carry out an update regularly, otherwise the content of the car park (from the point of view of the application) risks no longer sticking to the reality on the ground.
In summary, the modus operandi has phases:
• Patrol of a sector
• Acquisition and reading (of plates) of images
• Updating data
• Data analysis
