LPR Editor

Get a printable version here.

You must follow the steps below if you want to upgrade to the 2010 version of the LPReditor engine and if you don't have the Sentinel dongle.

Recommandations :
1) Unless you have the Sentinel dongle, you cannot install the new version of the engine directly. A previous version needs to be installed first. If it is not the case, you have to download it from our website and then to follow the steps below.
2) Once you have upgraded to the 2010 version (following the instructions below) you would better not run the LPRDemo.exe (or there is a risk that the engine will not work anymore).
3) If, once upgraded, the application using the LPReditor.dll asks you to re-install the LPReditor demo package you must CANCEL (or the engine will not work anymore).
4) If, once upgraded, your application doesn't boot or doesn't recognise anything or the engine send warnings, you can try to check the registry key of LPReditor.
5) If, once upgraded, your application doesn't boot or doesn't recognise anything or the engine send warnings and if you have checked the registry key of LPReditor, you can try to re-install the engine manually.

The following procedure will work if you have a valid license of the LPReditor engine installed on the target machine.

Downloading
Finding the installation folder of LPReditor
Making a safe copy of the installation folder of LPReditor
Removing the neural nets files
Copying the new neural nets files
Deleting the clusters folder
Copying the new clusters
Copying the rejections folder
Finding the engine dlls and making a safe copy
Copying the new dlls

Step 1 : Downloading

Follow this link to download the archive : 2010 version downloading

then unzip it anywhere.

Step 2 : Finding the installation folder of LPReditor

The installation folder of LPReditor is specified in the registry. Open regedit to read HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\LPReditor\TargetDirLPReditor: "..."

Step 3 : Making a safe copy of the installation folder of LPReditor

Find the installation (application) folder of LPReditor (see below, for example \\Program Files\\LPReditor) and make a safe copy of it (for instance rename it \\Program Files\\LPReditor_old).
Keep the copy : it can be restored at any time doing the reverse.

Step 4 : Erasing the neural nets files

In the installation (application) folder of LPReditor, remove all the files with the extensions *.net and *.mst.

Step 5 : Copying the new neural nets files

Copy all the files with the extensions *.net and *.mst from the archive.
Paste them in the installation (application) folder of LPReditor.

Step 6 : Deleting the clusters folder

In the installation (application) folder of LPReditor, Delete the subfolder named "clusters".

Step 7 : Copying the new clusters

Copy the subfolder called "clusters" from the archive.
Paste it in the installation (application) folder of LPReditor.

Step 8 : Copying the rejections folder

Copy the subfolder called "rejections" from the archive.
Paste it in the installation (application) folder of LPReditor.

Step 9 : Finding the engine dlls and making a safe copy

The engine dlls and your application usually are in the same folder.
If the LPReditor.dll (main dll of the engine) file is not in your application folder it must be in the the windows\system32\ folder.
Make a safe copy of the engines dlls (compare with the dlls of the archive). Keep the copy : it can be restored at any time doing the reverse.

Step 10 : Copying the new dlls

Copy all the dlls from the archive.
Paste them in the installation (application) folder of LPReditor. If the system asks replace (and erase) the old dlls with the new ones. Important if the engine dlls used by your application are elsewhere (typically in your aplplication/executable folder or in the windows\system32\ folder) you must paste and copy the new dlls there.
