Known problems and issues
The application doesnot initialise and there is no message
Possible cause
The application uses an old version of the LPReditor.dll file (older than 2008)
but the initializations files are of a different type. From 2009 our engine uses different
clusters
files as the former version.
Solution 1 :
Proceed with the upgrade from the 2006 to the 2009 version of the engine.
Solution 2 :
Download the clusters folder for the 2006 engine and paste it in the
LPReditor folder
The application doesnot initialise and raise a DllNotFoundException
Possible cause
The system cannot load the LPReditor dlls
or one of the dll used by the dll is missing
or the application requires from lpreditor.dll a function that is not exported
.
Solution 1 : Install the MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ 2005 RUNTIME LIBRARIES
Normally these libraries are already installed on the target machine.
You can check via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
The Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications
developed with Visual C++ on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2005 installed.
You can download a self installing package from our web site (French version
VC_Redist Packages for Visual Studio 2005 SP1 are available from the Download Center of Microsoft. Content discoverability may not be enabled yet. Following are direct links for English downloads. See attached file for all languages.

Solution 2 : Download the missing dlls
You can get all the dlls used by the engine going
there (version 2010)
or there (version 2006)
.
Solution 3 : See the exported functions of lpreditor.dll
There are several freeware (such as
DLL Export Viewer
) that can be used to list the exported functions of a dll.
If you detect a function needed by the application, listed in the LPRengine API and
that is not exported by your version of LPReditor.dll, you have to upgrade to the 2009 version.
After that if you have the same problem, please contact
support@lpreditor.com
(we don't provide technical support unless you have a registered payed license).
The application doesnot initialise and I tried all the above solution and it still doesnot work
Possible cause
The application is the problem not the lpreditor engine
Solution : make a test with another application
Generate and run a debug session of one of the source code samples provided with the engine
(each sample is provided with a compiled executable) :
Visual Basic LPR example
C# LPR example
C++ LPR example.
The application works well for a long period and then raise and unhandled exception
Possible cause
Some former (2006) versions had a bug that can raise an unhandled
exception.
Solution
Go
there to upgrade to the 2009 version.
I have a payed activated online license but it doesnot work
Possible cause
Your license is not valid. Something on the target machine has changed since the activation
(registry or hard drive serial or system serial or...)
Or the demo has been installed twice on the target machine.
Solution
You can purchase a dongle from LPReditor.
With the usb dongle plugged, the engine doesn't ask for the license key so that the problem would be fixed.
Furthermore the key allows to use the software on another machine (of course with the the hardware key plugged).
This solution is used by our customers for many years (when we sell complete solutions for end users).
The price for the usb key is 40 € (no benefit : that is the price of such a key).
